Goals/Mission Statement

The Clark County Public Library provides free and equal access to information through exceptional customer service to meet the intellectual and recreational needs of the community.

Instructional Objectives

  • To support children in their academic studies.
  • To support children in their leisure-time activities.
  • To support children in their search for information.
  • To provide professional development to educators focusing on the library’s updated resources including the computer catalog and data bases.

All benchmarks that include:

  • Reading for purposes of learning about a subject, doing a job, making decisions and accomplishing a task.

Literary Text Standards
All benchmarks that include:

  • Reading texts that represent a variety of authors, cultures and eras.
  • Applying the reading process to various genres of literature.

All benchmarks that include:

  • Acquiring and disseminating information and enhancing learning.

Materials Available for Teachers/Students

  • Print and audio-visual materials for classroom use.
  • Specific collections available, organized by genre, subject or author, on request.
  • Internet access for use.
  • Librarian will collect materials for teacher requests.

Additional Information/Comments

  • Teachers may schedule tours and story times at the library.
  • Will come to the classroom to provide book talks, story times and general library information.
  • The summer Reading Program occurs during June and July at all locations to encourage children to continue reading during the summer months.
  • Inservice programs at schools for teacher up-dates on library services.
  • Monthly Teen Advisory Board meetings.
  • Monthly Teen Programs.
