Philosophy
We believe along with the Ohio Department of Education and
the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services that:

  • All children are born ready to learn
  • Relationships are influential
  • Communications are critical
  • Environments matter

Vision
To value each child, family and student as unique, treat them with respect and offer optimal quality care and education while in our program.

Mission
To provide and build a safe and nurturing environment that meets each child's individual needs as they evolve, thus establishing trust and enabling children to meet their optimal potential.

Goals
To provide each family with age appropriate, hands-on learning activities that will foster growth cognitively, socially, emotionally, spiritually, and creatively. The Campus Kids Learning Center will provide these opportunities for optimal learning in a traditional child care setting while the Early Childhood Education Center will provide an opportunity for early childhood development students to practice classroom theory, as well as to provide

Additional Information/Comments

The Early Childhood Education Center (ECEC) officially opened its doors on August 26,1996 as a collaborative venture between the Springfield-Clark Joint Vocational School and Clark State Community College. The center was established to be a fully functional early care and education center for children of students, professors, teachers, and the community, and to serve as a lab school for the vocational and college students enrolled in their prospective early
childhood programs.SCJVS, CSCC, and ECEC operate independently, but join within the four walls of the center to design, demonstrate, and disseminate best practice in the field. This collaborative effort is as unique as the children we serve.

  • JVS students, instructors, and ECEC staff work closely together.
  • All students are informed of the Center rules and given the ECEC Observation and Confidentiality Policy by their instructor (s) each quarter.
  • A limit of two students are permitted per classroom.
