Goals/Mission Statement
"It is the mission of the George Rogers Clark Heritage Association to educate its members and the public to the history of the area of the Northwest Territory between the years 1700-1850 with a particular emphasis on the Ohio Country and the life of George Rogers Clark."
Instructional Objectives
- To get Ohio History studies off to an enthusiastic start for area fourth grade students. (Fifth grade may be included if space is available.)
- A free Education Day will be held at George Rogers Clark Park on August 31, 2007. This is the day before the Fair at New Boston begins and the day before Labor Day weekend.
- Our goal is to make history real and exciting. We want to get students enthused about studying Ohio History. Students are invited to step back in time to experience life in the Northwest Territory before Ohio became a state in 1803. Costumed artisans and craftsmen demonstrate skills. Students are encouraged to get involved and to speak with costumed citizens, march with militia, play games, assist in demos..
- Guides will talk about NW Territory, Battle of Peckuwe, George Rogers Clark, Simon Kenton.
