Goals/Mission Statement

The Corps of Engineers operates C.J. Brown Reservoir for flood damage reduction, recreation, water quality, and wildlife habitat.

Instructional Objectives

  • We operate a Visitor Center which has various exhibits highlighting the history and purpose of the Reservoir, along with the Recreation and Natural Resources of the area.
  • Interpretive programs we do usually highlight the natural resources of the reservoir area, while relating the important message of how the reservoir works, and its impact on Springfield.
  • A second area of emphasis is on Water Safety programs.
